What is free, what is ticketed, and how long the climb really takes.

The parterre, the main avenues, the Neptune fountain and the walk to the Gloriette cost nothing and are open daily. You can spend an afternoon here without buying anything.
What is ticketed
The Privy Garden, the maze and labyrinth, the Gloriette terrace and the Palm House each charge separately from the palace. A combined pass exists if you intend to do several.
The Gloriette climb
Twenty minutes at an unhurried pace up a gentle rise. The colonnade was built in 1775 as a viewing pavilion and still does exactly that job, looking back down the parterre to the palace front.
The zoo is a separate day
Tiergarten Schönbrunn, founded 1752, is the oldest zoo in the world and sits inside the grounds. It is a separate ticket and a half-day in its own right.
